We always talk about the importance of TAKING ACTION and yes of course action is critical in order to achieve success.
Have you ever stopped to think about WHY you are taking the action or doing the task in front of you?
It seems pretty obvious doesn’t it. To think about why you do something before you invest your most precious resource (time) in getting it done?
I’ll let you in on a little secret – more often than not, this doesn’t happen. We don’t think about why we do something before we do it. And there is a reason for this.
We get too caught up in the detail of the day and WHAT we are doing that we completely lose site of WHY we are doing it (let alone consider if it is worthwhile and will make any dent or difference to our business goals).
Here are three simple (and quick) questions to ask yourself to make sure you are taking action with purpose:
- For what purpose (why) am I doing this task and will it help move the dial and get me closer to my goals?
- Is this the most effective way I could be doing this?
- Should I be doing this task, or outsourcing/delegating?
